This is the interface between you and the machine. This where you adjust the speed, motion and time setting for your workout. Some units have traditional buttons, dials, and indicators. Some units have a touchscreen. Some units have a flat smooth surface which is easy to clean with no edges that can trap dirt and germs.

Different machines offer various motion possibilities. Oscillation is good for weight loss and improved lymphatic drainage. Spiral rotational is good for muscle strength and improved circulation. Soft triplanar is good for increasing bone density. Cross lateral is good for improving balance. Dynamic wave is the best method (surpassing oscillation) for weight loss and improved lymphatic drainage. These motions can be selected using the control panel.

The platform is the area that you stand on when using the machine. The larger the area, the better, as this allows you to have a wider variety of foot positions during your workout. Some machines utilize a very hard rough surface which will require shoes when using the machine. Other units have a softer rubber surface, allowing bare feet or socks to be worn. Other units have special shock absorbing material to reduce impact injuries to the knees and other soft tissue. Other units have platforms embedded with special minerals which can improve general health.

Some machines are generally quieter than others when in use. This noise can be a factor in some circumstances such as whether you live in an apartment with people below you. Office and medical clinics also often prefer quieter machines, to not disturb others in the area.

It is advisable to always perform a warm up routine before using vibration machines, or prior to starting any exercise. It’s also important to perform a cool down routine after exercising. These will prevent injuries and are highly recommended. Certain machines have a designated set of buttons which initiate a specific 2 or 3 minute warm up and separate cool down routine.

All vibration machines produce 2 types of vibrations. Harmonic and non harmonic. Harmonic vibrations are ‘good’. These waves are smooth with soft rolling, steady waves of motion. Non harmonic are irregular waves with many spikes. Erratic waves have been demonstrated by OSHA to be hazardous to human health. Vibration dampeners reduce or completely remove non harmonic waves from reaching the user. Vibration dampeners work in a similar method to how specific small weights are added to a car wheel to reduce vibrations when travelling at high speeds. Each specific machines resonant vibration pattern is evaluated and matched with a dampener of the exact opposite characteristic to nullify the non harmonic vibration.

The importance of G Force Time is often overshadowed by the actual G Force measurement. The value of how many G’s the body is subjected to is not as important as how long the body is under the effect of G Forces. The longer the better. Traditionally if a unit had very high G forces, the sustained G Force time is lowered, as a result. However, with more moderate G Forces, there is a higher time factor that the body is under the influence of G Force, which is a crucial element in the concept of how vibration therapy works. High G Force time is a major factor in determining the effectiveness of any vibration machine!

Many users are not sure what poses to perform on their machines, or what speed settings to use or which motion they should utilize for working on specific concerns of theirs. Machines that can utilize our trainer cards, allow the user to select which concern they wish to address and insert the corresponding card into the machine. This takes over controls of the machine, adjusting speeds, time settings and motions style to best address the specific concern. The user simply presses the start button and performs poses that are shown on the corresponding poster that comes with each trainer card. Every time the machine changes speed or motion type, the user simply moves onto the next pose shown on the poster. This removes any guess work about the settings and gives the user the best possible settings for their concern. This method greatly increases the effectiveness of vibration therapy. It’s like having a personal trainer by your side, guiding you through your workout.

Some machine include a soft stretchy upper body workout band, attached to a stationary portion of the machine, which is a great way to incorporate upper body movement during a workout. These are similar to stretchy bungee cords. Other machines include a set of hard straps (non stretchy) which attach to the moving platform and transfer vibrations into the arms, shoulders, neck and upper back area. Some machines include both strap systems.

Many handlebars (the area you hold onto the machine) are made of an inexpensive open cell foam. The open cells can trap moisture, perspiration and germs and become a breeding ground for bacteria and germs. Better material for handlebars is closed cell foam, which have no open pores and therefore can not absorb perspiration or bacteria and will not the spread of germs.

Some machines utilize a hard plastic foot which may scratch or mark your floor.
